BLOGGING EXPERIENCE WEEK 1

Welcome to my Blogging Experience Week 1! Today marks the first full week of my blog being up and operational! I’ll go ahead and wait while you pick your jaw up off the ground. But really, I can’t say that it has been a bad week. It is a lot more fun to blog than I originally thought. I have always enjoyed writing and had a sense that I might enjoy this, but it has exceeded my expectations. Needless to say, I am excited for what is to come. Lets go ahead and do a recap of what all was accomplished during this first week.

Week 1 goals

  • Make a blog post every day of the work week – SUCCESS
  • Monetize each blog post – FAIL
  • Post each blog article to social media – SUCCESS
  • Have a functioning website – SUCCESS
  • Get social media setup and started – SUCCESS
  • Get familiar with WordPress – SUCCESS
  • Gain 1 subscription – FAIL
  • Make any amount of money – SUCCESS
  • Set achievable goals – SUCCESS

Reaching the majority of my goals was extremely exiting to me. I was not sure where exactly I was going to start when I created this blog. Because I didn’t seek it out I haven’t really had any direction or much help in the appropriate ways to build a blog from the start. It would be interesting to change that next week and see what kind of difference it makes. There wasn’t any specific social media goals because I am just now getting everything off the ground. I figure I will save those goals until I approach week 5.

It was a big deal, at least to me, that I was able to post a blog each day.  I am dedicated to making sure I get these articles posted daily even though my schedule can be a little hectic. I’m patting myself on the back for familiarizing myself with wordpress, but I still feel like I have way more to learn. I constantly have to open each tab because I forget where I found the portion of the site I needed to access.

The Start of My Social Media

Getting social media started up wasn’t really that difficult. The hard part is going to be boosting the numbers on those platforms. I setup a facebook, twitter, and pinterest just to get me started. These were the platforms I knew best so I figured why not start with what I know and learn the rest later. One thing I want to try and do each week is set obtainable goals. I enjoy being able to mark most of my goals completed and I would like to keep it that way. Obviously I am well aware, I won’t have 5000 subscribers next week so why would I set myself up to fail?!

Website traffic report

Most popular time  –  5:00 p.m.

Social Media Attention

Facebook  –  62 Likes Total

Pinterest  –  130 Followers Total

Twitter  –  9 Followers Total

Yes, I know my Twitter following is incredible but lets shine some light on the other two. I was really impressed with Facebook, because I just opened up the group today. There is no expectation for next week to show the same growth just because the majority of the likes from today were friends and family getting an invite from me. I will have to find a way to boost my likes on Facebook without putting money in.

The majority of my Pinterest followers were from those that I had followed in my attempt to connect with my new blogging world. I have only had one small conversation with a blogger. She was very helpful and she has such a wonderful blog full of great content. Maybe one day I will be like her, until then I am going to continue doing what I am doing. Hopefully I can have all three of these numbers up a little come next week so that we can continue a trend of progressing.

Good article! I think it’s cool you’re sharing your progress as you go!

Thanks! Yea, I want people to see where exactly I started from and what kind of work it takes to grow. Plus it helps me keep a “graph” of how I do and where I came from. So it is just as much for me as it is for everyone else. If you have any ideas you think I should add to my weekly reports I would love to hear it for consideration!
