Welcome to my blogging experience week 4. This is where I will go over everything that has happened over the past week. If you’re new to PPF Financial then let me start off by welcoming you to my blog. If you’re not then let me welcome you back!

I wanted to make a weekly blog update at the end of every week for the first year of my blogs life. The reason I am doing this is to give any current or future readers an insight into all the making of my blog. Plus it will be something I could look back on later and enjoy the hard work and dedication I put into blogging.

Those of you who have been here before, feel free to skip ahead to the first section. For those who have not, the reason I want to be so transparent is to help build up some trust between you and I. There are many places you could about finance and many other things you could be doing. The fact is you’re here with me now and I want to help build a lasting relationship. Let us begin shall we?

Every week I will cover:

•  What next week will look like

•  Did I meet the goals set last week

•  My websites traffic report

•  The social media attention I received

•  A list of articles posted during the week

•  The goals I hope to achieve next week

My hope is to eventually be able to blog full time and become my own boss. None of this will be possible without the help of everyone who checks up on me every week. So far all of you, I thank you and I appreciate any and all support.

I really do enjoy doing this and I hope that I can help even just one person out. That would be enough for this all to be worth it. Every week I post these articles, I want to be able to inspire and motivate someone to do better for themselves.  This is as much about every single one of you as it is about me!

What Next Week is Going to Look Like

For starters, I have to get better at getting these articles in. I seem to procrastinate long enough to get behind. I really do apologize for being late. Ask anyone who knows me, it’s not really a surprise. I’ve got a couple article topics drawn up that I feel pretty strong about. I know I’ve been asked many times before on how to handle some of these things and hopefully I can get that passed down to you.

I’ve been in contact with a few bloggers this week and hope to continue to build those relationships. I’ve been debating on changing themes but I’m just not sure where I would go with it if I changed it up. Maybe some of you can help me with this… Do you think a new theme would be helpful or nice to see?

I still haven’t managed to get all of my blog posts updated as far as my SEO on each post. I also haven’t taken the time to see if and where my blog is running slow so I hope to check on that next week. I’ve also noticed when looking at my blog from other devices, it doesn’t always show up the way I would like it to. I’m not sure how to fix that issue but I plan on finding out.

A really big issue people have been telling me about is that they are having trouble commenting on my blog articles. They say it keeps rejecting them due to being suspected bots?? Not sure what that is all about, but I really need to get to the bottom of that as well.

I’m seeing a lot of progress in my website and I’ve noticed quite a bit that I’ve become a little more relaxed with what to write. I use to get a lot of writers block at the start because I had no clue what I was doing. I still really don’t have a clue but at least I’m more comfortable not knowing at this point.

Blogging Experience Week 4 Goals

• Post my first official product review  –  SUCCESS

• Publish the first monthly income/expense report  –  SUCCESS

• Boost Facebook likes by 25  –  FAIL

• Reach 600 Pinterest followers  –  SUCCESS

• Double my Twitter followers  –  SUCCESS

• Finish updating the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for all of my articles  –  FAIL

• Get at least one article for next week done this week.  –  FAIL

Okay, so this week was a win as far as all of my goals go. I completed 4 out of 7 goals that I set for myself. I would have liked to have been 7 out of 7 but I was really busy near the end of my week with work. It didn’t help me any that I procrastinated on the front part of my week.

I was able to successfully post both the articles I wanted to make sure got done last week though. My product review and monthly income report were pretty important to me. I was happy to share my excitement in my review of the Making Sense of Affiliate Marking course. Plus I want to make sure every month I publish my monthly income/expense report.

This past week I did pretty well on improving my website traffic and my social media presence. I met only two of my 3 social media goals this week but I met them by quite a bit. This played a huge roll in boosting my website traffic this week. I guess I am going to have to insure I really pay attention to social media, even on the days I am swamped with work!

Website Traffic Report

Weekly Views  –  332 (up from 227)

Weekly Visitors  –  167 (up from 62)

Top Views in a Day  –  69 (up from 62)

Best Day – Thursday

So I really killed it this week in boosting the amount of visitors I had to my blog. I attribute this to my success in growing on social media. I haven’t taken the time to see where I fall at on the search rankings but I plan on getting that information next week. Still, I want to focus my attention on social media this coming week though. I have to tackle one problem at a time though or I wont get any of them done.

This week I’ m going to continue to focus on social media and try to make a nice push in that market. If I can do well with that, then I’ll be able to move my focus to where I rank at for some of the major search engines. Getting a good boost from the search engines along with my progress in social media should yield pretty decent results for my traffic.

Social Media Attention

Facebook  –  93  (up 9 from last week)

Pinterest  –  669  (up 219 from last week)

Twitter  –  423  (up 294 from last week)

I found quite a bit of success with Twitter and Pinterest. It was super exciting to see this increase! I had been moving pretty slow in the area of Twitter and placed a little more focus on growing that source. Pinterest has been my most steady success. I continue to grow quite a bit with Pinterest and I’m hoping that number climbs further.

With Pinterest and Twitter, I’ve been trying to make it a point to be very active on them. I have found that it helps a lot. It doesn’t really seem to matter, at this point, how active I am on my Facebook page. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can organically grow my Facebook group? I refuse to beg and spam people to join my page so I have to find a way to get it in front of more people.

Blogging Experience: Week 5 Goals

Welcome to my blogging experience week 4. This is where I will go over everything that has happened over the past week within my blog. Check out how I have built my bog and where it's at after week 4 by clicking above. If you don't have time to read now, save it as a PIN and comeback later.

•  Get back on schedule with posting on time

•  Update all of my SEO for all of my currently published blog

•  Reach 100 likes on my Facebook Page

•  Make it to 750 Pinterest followers

•  Have 550 Twitter followers

•  Publish 2 articles outside of my weekly updates

•  Change my page logo at the top

With the success I had on social media, I hope to build off of that and continue moving forward with my blog. I want to try and always have 7 goals each week. I felt like last week was a bad week for me and my blog. After seeing I reached more goals than I didn’t, it made me feel so much better about my progress.

The boost in traffic and in social media was awesome to see at the end of the week. Another reason why I am glad I do these weekly updates. If I went a whole month thinking I was performing poorly, it could easily cause me to get discouraged. Posting these for you each week really helps motivate me to keep doing my best.

I’ve realized, this week, it doesn’t matter how successful my blog becomes. Really all that matters is that I enjoy what I’m doing and that I continue to be dedicated to helping others. Money and fame isn’t everything and shouldn’t be held to such a high standard. The joy I feel when I know I’ve made a difference in someones life is worth more than anything anyone can give me!

What are ways that you’ve found to make a difference in someone’s life? How did that difference make you feel?

Congratulations on more successes than failures! Where do you find most of your traffic is coming from at this point? Google, Pinterest, Facebook, or Twitter?

I appreciate it! I’ve been working my butt off trying to make sure I keep up with everything. Not to mention still manage to show up and work my “real” job. So far most of my traffic is coming from Pinterest, followed by Facebook. I was actually surprised to see Facebook ahead of Twitter!

I absolutely love this post! As a fellow newbie blogger, I can definitely relate to a lot (most) of the things you mention in your article. It’s definitely nice to see someone pour out their progress in such an authentic and transparent manner. This article is not only interesting to read but very motivating! It’s nice to commiserate with those who understand the joys of blogging but also to learn and be inspired by others. It’s great to see how far you’ve already come and wish you lots of luck on your progress. I can’t seem to figure out Facebook either and haven’t delved into Pinterest yet but it’s great to hear how much success you’ve been having with it! I will definitely be tuning in to follow your journey!

I appreciate feedback like this! It really helps me realize that what I’m doing is making a difference. Sometimes I feel like I get overwhelmed with the amount of things I need to do. Blogging takes so much effort but it is beyond exciting! All of the wonderful people I get to meet and boy do you learn a lot! I’ve learned so much about blogging, my niche, and social media. Every time I reach a goal I get that much more excited. It’s a slow process but that’s probably a good thing! Thanks again for such a great post. It has motivated me to keep producing content and these weekly updates!

I loved reading your blogging experience. I also like the idea of setting 7 blog goals a week. I am going to adopt that philosophy!

Thank you so much! I like the number 7 because it gives me a definitive win or lose for the week. I’m glad to see that I could help contribute to your blog. Let me know if you notice a difference by setting the 7 goals. I’d be happy to hear about your experiences.

This is great Ryan! I love reading about progression and goals. I have been working hard on my social media too, it’s nice to see it paying off.

Thanks! It has helped keep me motivated seeing my blog trend up! Most of my social media, except for Facebook anyways, has been doing well. Tomorrow I should be posting my week 5 update so feel free to return and see that tomorrow!
